Shakedown hawaii trophy guide
I have made the front and rear top curves gentler than on the ones of Peter Seaman and Pete Farmer as well as making them lower. I have modified a tube bender so I can bend the aluminium extrusions to make the sidescreens I have kept a hat on it because I did not want to cross Pete Farmer´s business line. The other thing is about the sidescreens. I still owe him P&P for sending me those inlet manifolds. I was very saddened to hear of Steve´s passing as a matter of fact I had sort of planned to look him up on my next trip to the UK. MORE ON DHMC SIDE-SCREENS FROM SVEN ECKHARDT: Can you still walk in the hills, or is it too cold and wet?īest Regards, Ken Grasing (Oklahoma City U.S.A.) I imagine it’s started to turn a bit colder in Teesdale. The suspension, Girling brake system and hubs from Orson’s are all mounted up and look quite sharp. We’ve got the wiring harness in and are sorting the dash layout while awaiting the cylinder head, camshaft and valve gear from the UK so we can finish up assembling the engine. The 1958 standard-bodied rally car is coming along quite nicely. The Bonneville is also near completion, also needing the FIA fuel tank and work on aligning the blower drive pulleys. The Sprinzel coupe still needs the FIA fuel tank and adjustment of the steering column to clear the roll cage. I’m trying to finish up a number of the projects. You’ll remember I also had quite a special chance to closely examine WJB 707 while Stephen had (the car) at CCK last year. I had the privilege of being able to correspond with Stephen while he was winding down Eurospeed Services and he had cheerfully shared a bit about some of the more unusual pieces for the Sebring’s. Hello Martin, I'm very sorry to learn of Stephen Bowen’s passing. Graeme, on left in the pohoto, has since taken delivery of his new toy - last weekend. Probably a bit of a pain to deal with judging by the notes attached to invoices". I would guess he was very particular about the way it was put together which increases confidence in the vehicle. That will come down with the car which should come down at the weekend. At the moment I only have the invoice folder and have glanced at the build record one. It will be invaluable for keeping the car. I believe he worked for a company of Quantity Surveyors so his methodical “recording” approach would have been very much part and parcel of his work style. Graeme reports: "Mike must have been an interesting person. The car he has acquired is the one built in the early 90's by Mike Sutton and following Mike's death it went to Bob Heppell, before now being sold to Graeme. Free-issue then of course! My preference is for the look of this bonnet rather than the Sebring2 and the Monza, but I suspect that is because it was the one I had originally". I had one of the original shape f/glass bonnets (as per NSU) fitted to my Frog in 1965. It is only relatively recently that I really came to appreciate the esteem in which Williams and Pritchard are held. Charlie died in 1969, and as Graeme says "Sadly I never really took the opportunity to talk to him in any depth about the business. Graeme is the son of the late Charlie Williams of Williams & Pritchard fame, who were responsible for making Sprinzel's original alloy bodywork fitted to the first 5 or 6 coupes.
